About Me
I qualified as a counsellor (SACAP) over 12 years ago after working for more than 30 years in commercial and third sector organisations, primarily within the communications sector. This means I have a substantial amount of life's experiences which contribute towards my work as a counsellor .
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and holder of the BACP Certificate of Proficiency, I am bound by its ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy. In practice this means that I will treat everything you tell me confidentially and will be sensitive to your needs and professional in how I work. I am also a member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity (ATSAC) and work with clients on sexual issues. |
Counselling Style |
I tend to focus on person-centred counselling but do use other counselling disciplines such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) if this is appropriate for you. I also believe in positive reaffirmation counselling where I encourage the client to see themselves in a positive way. I also encourage clients to be goal-orientated so that your time is used effectively.
By using cognitive behaviour therapy and solution based techniques I can help most clients overcome their problems as these techniques have been proven to be very time and cost effective. |
My Clients |
My clients are both young and old, come from hugely different backgrounds and come to me with a wide range of issues. These include relationship and sexual problems, stress at home and in the workplace, sexual addictions and anxiety. However, this list is not exhaustive and there may be occasions when you just wish to be free to express yourself in a neutral, non-judgmental space.
